Former Toms River Councilman Kevin Geoghegan Will Run for the Remainder of Rodrick’s Council Seat

Former Toms River Councilman Kevin Geoghegan, who lost his council seat in last year’s primary, has filed a petition declaring his candidacy for the Ward 2 council seat previously held by now Mayor Dan Rodrick.

Geoghegan, a retired Toms River Police officer and a member of the Silverton Fire Company, served on the council from 2020 through 2023 but lost his primary race along with then Mayor Mo Hill and his slate, following public backlash to the approval of a planned development project in the downtown area.

Two other candidates, including one Republican and one Democrat, filed petitions to seek the remaining year of Rodrick’s council term.

The Republican primary will be held June 4.

  1. He is also the one who spearheaded implementing the resale CO that costs peope selling and purchasing homes thousands of dollars, and voted on the reevaluation to raise everyones taxes. No thanks!

  2. Ditto to Mark. Those who know, know. Kevin is not a friend of the community and cannot be trusted. He’s very focused on his own self interests and will happily walk over others to get there.
