Former Republican Governor Of New Jersey Christine Todd Whitman Co-Sponsors New Political Party

Working in parallel to strengthen democracy, the Forward Party, the Renew America Movement, and the Serve America Movement announced the formal merger of their three organizations to create the launchpad for a transformational American political party under one name: Forward.

The merged group—comprised of leading national Democrats, Republicans, and Independents plans to build a new kind of political party that represents the interests of the majority of Americans who reject extremism and division. Forward advisors include former U.S. presidential candidates, members of Congress, governors, cabinet officials, entrepreneurs, and grassroots leaders, in addition to thousands of volunteers in all 50 states.

“We’re not just a new party, we’re a new kind of party. Not Left. Not Right. Forward. We’re not building a copy of the current parties, which are dragging our country backwards. We’re moving American politics forward, with a party focused on innovative, collaborative, and common-sense solutions that work for the majority of Americans.”

The party announced that Democrats, Republicans, and Independents are joining forces to build more than just a new party, but a new kind of party. The group claims that this will be a political home for the majority of Americans who want to move past the era of divisiveness and do-nothing politicians so that our government starts working again. This party will look and feel different. Forward celebrates diverse viewpoints and creativity, works to truly improve communities, and focuses on uniting people around common-sense solutions. Three building blocks will unite our broad coalition and serve as the springboard for the leadership and policymaking by Forward Party leaders promoting:

Free People; Thriving Communities; And A Vibrant Democracy:

  • Diverse Thinking Isn’t Just Welcome, It’s Required
The Forward Party will welcome new ideas and fearless conversations around the issues of the day. We won’t silence debate or refuse to adapt to the modern world.
  • Bottom-Up, Not Top Down
The Forward Party will empower leaders to find solutions that work in their communities. We won’t dictate a rigid, top down policy platform and expect it to work for all Americans.
  • No Purity Tests
The Forward Party will create a political home for everyone willing to set aside the partisan extremes and find practical ways to make this country better. We won’t be checking IDs to see if people are Democrats, Republicans, or Independents.
  • More Listening, Less Talking
The Forward Party will ask you what we can do for your community. We will not ask what your community can do for us.
  • Work Together, Not Against
The Forward Party will strive for collaborative solutions, make sure they work, and try something else if they don’t. We won’t ignore problems so that we can use them to drive wedges between Americans; nothing gets done when opposing views are treated like enemy positions.
  • Grace and Tolerance
The Forward Party will approach each other with grace and tolerance, finding ways to pick people back up rather than knock them down. We won’t cancel people or cast them out of the party for not falling in line.

The new Forward Party states it will be ready for liftoff at a national convention in Summer 2023, and in the meantime are inviting Americans to join them in “fixing our broken political system”.

Forward volunteers and supporters are already mobilizing in communities across the country, thanks to the combined efforts of the three organizations that are merging to make this possible. This fall, they are “hitting the road with a national tour to hear your ideas and begin seeking state-by-state party registration and ballot access with 15 states this year and nearly all 50 states within two years”.

The group has pledged to recruit solutions-oriented candidates to run for office at all levels, especially in local, state, and national races where political extremists do not reflect the majority of Americans. While the Forward Party will not have its own candidates in the 2022 midterm elections, the group announced it will support select candidates in November who stand up for democracy, even if they come from outside the new party. They will be recruiting “solutions-oriented” candidates to run for office, at all levels. At the same time, the group will be actively embracing unifying leaders who stand up for our democracy, even if they come from outside the new party, including those running in this year’s midterm elections.

The new Forward Party team already includes veterans of successful presidential campaigns from both major parties, long-time operatives in the “new politics” space, and democracy reform champions. The organization plans exciting announcements in the months to come.

The Forward Party states they will stand for doing, not dividing. That means rejecting political extremes and working together to take real action on every important issue for the unrepresented majority in American politics.

“We have no illusions about the difficult mission before us, but we are forging ahead with the passion, optimism, and urgency this moment demands. Americans of all stripes will build this groundbreaking movement and take our country in a better direction.”

The Forward Party was established in 2021 by former U.S. presidential candidate Andrew Yang to fight for the American people with practical, common-sense solutions, alongside leaders of the independent voting movement such as Jackie Salit. While other political parties look to divide America into different camps, the Forward Party aims to bring them together.

The Renew America Movement (RAM) began in 2017 as Stand-Up Republic to encourage people to protect our democracy and put country over party. It later became RAM, led by former GOP officials, including New Jersey Governor Christine Todd-Whitman, Massachusetts Governor Bill Weld, and former members of Congress, national leaders, and cabinet officials, including ex-Trump administration whistleblower Miles Taylor.

The Serve America Movement (SAM Party) was established in 2017 by current and former Democrats, Republicans, and Independents, with a common goal to build a new kind of political party that puts people at the heart of the political process. SAM is led by former U.S. Congressman David Jolly.

  1. Let me correct something: The claim is that this is Democrats and Republicans coming together to make common cause, but I only saw Democrat names: There isn’t a dime’s worth of difference between Whitman and Weld and any other garden-variety Democrat: liberal on every important issue, fiercely opposed to conservative ideals. One of the best metrics: the two of them couldn’t get elected anywhere but two of the most liberal states in the country: New Jersey and Massachusetts. Perfect RINOs.

Don’t be fooled by the lofty rhetoric: this a lib organization through and through.
