A Toms River man has been charged after allegedly threatening to shoot coworkers if he was fired from his job at a Lakewood business, TLS has learned.
Officers responded on Thursday, July 2, to a report of terroristic threats involving an employee at a business on Oberlin Avenue South.
An investigation determined that the employee, identified as 59-year-old James Jensen of Toms River, allegedly threatened to shoot coworkers if his employment was terminated.
Following the investigation, detectives established probable cause to charge Jensen with one count of Terroristic Threats and one count of Criminal Coercion. The charges were placed on a warrant.
With assistance from the Berkeley Township Police Department, Jensen was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he remains pending court proceedings.
Lakewood Police Chief Gregory H. Meyer commended the officers involved in the investigation and thanked the Berkeley Township Police Department for its assistance.
“The safety of our residents and those who work in our community remains our highest priority,” Meyer said. “We take all threats of violence seriously and will continue to act quickly and decisively to protect the public. We also appreciate the assistance provided by the Berkeley Township Police Department in safely taking the suspect into custody.”
