As first reported on our News Alerts, following last week’s exclusive exposè on TLS of multiple hateful comments directed at the Orthodox Jewish community, Heather Barone has resigned her position on the Toms River planning board.
Her resignation letter was read at Tuesday night’s council meeting, though Barone was not in attendance.
In her letter, Barone expressed remorse for her comments and said she was resigning due to concerns for her family’s safety.
There are no known threats to either Barone or her immediate family.

Good riddance. She will not be missed by anyone. She has been harassing innocent people for a loooong time. Her actions stemmed from pure evil hatred. All her excuses have run out. Maybe she should leave Toms River!!
She is worried about her SAFETY?
Heather, man up! You screwed up and you were exposed. Own up to it and apologize. Don’t blame it on safety & don’t blame it on collusion with the Orthodox. Say you will go for sensitivity training, you will try to bridge the community or even at least say that you will try to correct your errors. But no- you will not show up to resign, you will claim it’s your safety you are concerned about. All the while still being that bully you always were. Sorry Toms River is a progressively peaceful place that has no room for your bigotry.
The shooting in synagogues across this nation is from losers that troll sites like your friends at RUOC and feed into the hate. You know who is scared for their safety? Just take a look around and see the hateful stuff they spew- no wonder you were their darling candidate.
PS- before you go and sell your house in the peaceful neighborhood- remember to take down your and your mothers “Toms River Strong” sign. There is maybe a handful of those signs left in the entire North Dover, leaving them up is tantamount to posting hateful posts on social media. Take them down and move out quietly.
