Lakewood School District officials today demonstrated with the new metal detectors installed in Lakewood elementary schools after a 4th grader brought a loaded gun to school earlier this month.
Flanked by School District officials, Lakewood High School security professional Jim Devaney demonstrated on a student walking through the new metal detector.
When the machine beeped, a wand was used to determine the cause.
All students will be required to walk through the detectors upon entering school.
Lakewood School District is the first district in Ocean County to install detectors in all its elementary schools.

The irony…”Piner Pride is Back”, alongside a metal detector to screen little 4th graders who bring firearms to school.
