FIRST LOOK: Lakewood Township Begins Major Upgrades for Lake Carasaljo, Including Walking Path Across Lake, New Boat Docks [PHOTOS]

You will soon be able to cross Lake Carasaljo from North Lake to South Lake.

The Township has begun working on major upgrades for Lake Carasaljo, which will include a new boat dock, a separate public pier with benches, and a lake crossing.

Improvements will also be made to the first responder dock as well.

“I’m very happy that the beach area of the lake will be renovated in time for the spring and summer,” Mayor Ray Coles told TLS. “The upgraded docks will allow the police department a secure area for their watercraft, a new, safe area for a boat concession and a lot of opportunities for our residents to enjoy the lake.”

Crews have already demolished the existing boat dock, making way for the new, state-of-the-art dock to help provide a safe boating experience.

Visitors to the lake can expect to see improvements to continue through spring 2024.

  1. I assume all are aware that this path will not be the first walking path to go form N. Lake Dr. to S. Lake Dr. (or vice versa). There are currently 2 paths near each other which already do that and have been around for a very long time. These paths are further west and don’t go across the body of water.

  2. Wow! I can’t wait till it’s ready.
Lake Carasaljo Deserves it. Unlike other Lake/Parks across the US which have dog poop, cigarette buds, and drug addicts drug waste tossed everywhere , I had not ever seen any of that at Lake Carasaljo.
Currently when using the 2 bridge path to cross the lake my younger grandchildren enjoy jumping in and splattering the mud, while I hold on to trees for my life not to slip in the loose mud while wearing my smooth bottom Shabbos shoes; I’m sure that will all be upgraded. Thank You Ray.

  3. how wide will the bridge be because sometimes people jog there and nobody wants to collide with a jogger on a swinging walkway so we need at least three lanes width

  4. Can’t wait to see it. We love going to the park by the lake!
It would be great if they could make a driving bridge across the lake to alleviate the traffic.
Widening Rt 9 is not the only possible solution. We need some alternate routes. In order to travel between north and south Lakewood, the entire population must bottleneck into the 2 lanes of Rt 9 and Clifton. There needs to be a closer option than Cross/Hope or Clover, which are miles away.

  5. This is insane and infuriating. How will fisherman and kayakers get to enjoy the entirety of the lake?! This is going to be a massive safety hazard as well. Will one have to wear a life jacket while crossing? If I fall over and drown while traversing this monstrosity who is to be held liable?!?
