PHOTOS & VIDEO [UPDATED 1:45 AM] A fire fully engulfed the former Lake Charter headquarters on River Avenue early Wednesday morning. At about 12:15 AM, multiple firefighters responded to the vacant business office – located across the Presidential Estates development – to find the structure fully engulfed in flames.
The fire was brought under control about 30 minutes later, with the assistance from multiple stations, including mutual aid from Brick Township Fire Department.
EMS and Lakewood First Aid responded as well.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. TLS-MPIP2/TLS-CCP/TLS-48
Funny how an abandoned building with no power catch’s fire all on its own. Urban renewal at it’s finest. Way to go LFD.
Just came from the fire. My dad used to be a LFD member years and years back. It is kinda neat to see how Lakewood evolved. We left Lakewood 15 years ago. At this mornings fire I saw Jewish Firemen,Fire Police, EMS that’s pretty cool. Why do you need mutual aid for not that big of a fire?
Thanx u LFD for always being there. Special shout out to herbertsville fd.
Mutual aid was hit out for the R.I.T team in case something went wrong during the fire.
The mutual aid was for a FAST Team (firefighter rescue team) they are requirement in case a firefighter gets trapped inside a fire. They are a firefighters lifeline…when things go bad
Lakewood does not have a FAST team, they depend on skilled firefighters from outside the town so they can get the job done and everyone can go home.
the nfpa standards require a “Fast Team” for all structual fires…its to help protect the firefighters.
#2 – if you dad was in fire fighting you would understand, mutual aid is not because Lakewood can not handle the event, they do a great job but not knowing what is about to happen allows for more man power, allows for a dedicated FAST team (This is a fire fighter rescue team). This is a standard and is usually not a team from your own department as they are committed to the fire.
Chief again great job
Urban renewal at it’s finest?? Way to go LFD.
this town has lots of strange events that occur much more frequently than any other town:
1. lots of forgotten children in cars
2. lots of bomb/haz-mat calls
3. lots of “spontaneous combustion” in old buildings
Heavy investigation underway with K9s and the works!
only in lakewood!!!
LFD the BEST
Go Uri.
Your the Best. LFD and your station is lucky to have you
4. lots of burglaries of unlocked cars and houses
5. lots of pedestrians getting hit by cars..
and the list goes on, and on, and on…
ins. job well done
