With the number of antisemitic hate crimes in New Jersey skyrocketing, representatives from the Federal Bureau of Investigation‘s office in Newark were in Lakewood today to discuss what victims of such crimes can do, and how to prevent them.
Joshua Obstfeld, who is a Senior Supervisory Intelligence Analyst (SSIA) and one of the only Orthodox Jews in the FBI Newark division, moderated a panel of law enforcement officials on the increase in hate crimes, what you can do if it happens to you — and resources that are available to the general public that most are not aware of.
The town hall was attended by over 75 people, many of whom were there on behalf of their community organization or school.
The program, which was held at the Strand Theater, is an outgrowth of the FBI Citizens Academy, where the agency explains to citizen groups all the ways they can help identify hate crimes.

I think they should be more thoughtful and inclusive by not hosting it at the strand theater, which is a source of tumah, but at a location that’s more neutral and sensitive to the nuances of Halacha of the Jewish community…
