EXCLUSIVE – VIDEO: Lakewood Police Chief Greg Meyer Has a Strong Message for Parents after a Child Brought this Holstered Toy Gun to School

Does the pictured gun look real to you?

In fact, not only does it look real, it has the weight of a real gun, says Lakewood Police Chief Greg Meyer.

The gun was brought to school by a child, not realizing what a tumult it would cause. It was immediately confiscated by the school, and disciplinary actions are being taken.

Chief Meyer says despite the fact it’s a child carrying it on his belt, if he were to reach for it in the presence of an officer, it could get him shot and killed – as police have no way of knowing if it’s real or not.

  1. SCHOOL OFFICIAL TO STUDENT: “That toy-gun of yours looks real! Why did you bring it to school?!!”

STUDENT: “Because I have a toy permit on me that looks real, that allows me to carry a toy gun on me legally, that’s why!”

  2. I wonder where they learn this? Using money to purchase items so they look like they have power over others. Sorry folks but once again money can’t buy power. Yes an expensive toy gun worn to look like they are in control. Poor children.

  3. When I was a kid, I’m in my 70’s now, we used to play cowboys and Indians, cops and robbers, Army…. and we all had toy guns that looked pretty realistic. Revolvers, Lugers, rifles and we all knew the cops. We were all members of the PAL, the Police Athletic League. The world has changed. The kids have changed. Innocence is gone and the agenda is to eliminate it completely.
