If you’re carrying a load of illegal stuff, it’s probably smarter not to do something that arouses attention – especially in front of a police officer.
While assisting at a motor vehicle crash scene on Tuesday, Officer Scannell had a vehicle drive around his marked patrol car with its emergency lights activated.
The vehicle was subsequently stopped, and upon making driver contact, “the odor of raw marijuana was emanating from the vehicle,” police say.
“Officer Scannell observed in plain view a large quantity of marijuana in the center console,” says Police Chief Rob Lawson. The driver and occupant were both removed and arrested.
A consented search of the vehicle turned up approximately 500 decks of heroin, along with a large quantity of cash. The driver was charged with Possession of CDS, and other related charges. Bail was set at $25,000. The female passenger was charged with Possession of CDS and Paraphernalia.
