Drainage improvement work is scheduled to begin Monday, August 31, in the Brookwood 1 section of Jackson Township as part of the Township’s ongoing efforts to address aging infrastructure and localized flooding concerns, township officials said today.

The Township’s contractor is expected to conduct the work through Friday, September 11, weather permitting.

The project will include the installation of new drainage infrastructure designed to improve stormwater conveyance and help alleviate flooding concerns in the area.

Residents and motorists should expect temporary road closures and detours at various locations along Brookwood Parkway, including the intersections with Oregon Avenue, West Virginia Avenue and Montana Drive.

Motorists are urged to use caution, follow posted traffic control devices and allow additional travel time when traveling through the construction areas. Residents are also encouraged to use access points along South New Prospect Road as an alternate route whenever possible.

Following completion of the Brookwood 1 improvements, additional drainage projects are expected to move forward in several other areas of Jackson, including Flair Ridge Estates at Cambridge Drive and Timber Court, the southern cul-de-sac of Cortelyou Court, and the intersection of West Fish Road and Indiero Road.

The Township is expected to provide additional updates on the schedules for those projects in the coming weeks.

The drainage improvements are part of Mayor Jennifer Kuhn’s efforts to address aging infrastructure and improve drainage in various areas of Jackson Township.
