In past storms, many Eruvs were found to be ripped and Pasul as a result of the inclement weather. After Hurricane Irene, chances are there are many Eruvs which became Pasul. If you reside in a development, be sure to check with the association responsible for the Eruv to ensure it withstood the latest storm and is still Kosher.

There is no source in any rishonim or achronim that would disallow an Eruv on a sidewalk. Yes, there are some differences as to what king of mechitzos can be used in some cases, and a sidewalk of a reshus harabim may according to some have the status of the reshus harabim, but to say that an Eruv is not allowed on a sidewalk is blatantly false and Mare’h Panim B’Torah…….
