Documents: Pilot Of Fatal Monmouth Executive Airport Plane Crash Was Warned Not To Try ‘Risky’ Maneuver

[TLS video of scene] The owner of a small plane that crashed at the Monmouth Executive Airport, killing three Polish tourists and two others, had been warned not to try a risky maneuver, according to recently released documents from the National Transportation Safety Board.

A mechanic who knew the plane’s owner, Jacek Mazurek, told investigators that Mazurek told him that the twin-engine Cessna was leaking fuel and oil. The mechanic, Michael Petrossian, also says he had warned Mazurek about doing a high-speed fly-by followed by a quick climb in the plane.

Mazurek, another pilot and three visitors from Poland died when the plane apparently executed that maneuver, lost part of a wing and crashed.

A final report on what caused the accident has not been released. TLS/AP.
