Omg! I did not know him by name but now that I’m seeing his picture, I remember him. In fact I still remember him from the Mir. I didn’t know him well but he was always happy and meurav im habriyos. May the family have a nechama. Baruch Dayan Haemes.
The family is sitting s hiva through Friday afternoon at 17 Hampton Court, Bergenfield. NJ
These are several resources from ChevrahLomdeiMishnah.org that I have found to be helpful during times of tragedy or loss:
A DVD called Nichum V’Nechamah – A Guide to the Mitzvah of Nichum Aveilim, which has a lot of really good speakers discussing loss and giving comfort
Comfort, Courage and Clarity, a blog by Mrs. Miriam Ribiat about mourning and loss
The Neshamah Should Have an Aliyah, a book that explains what we can do for the neshamah of the niftar
Of course I knew him such a sweet natured person . He always had a good word to tell you ,and with his good sense of humor you always walked away smiling. As being an older bochur myself in bmg I wondered if it’s possible to be happy, but then I met keny.
May his neshama have an Aliyah
Thanks r. Schwartz. Unfortunately, you seem to not understand what the family needs or is looking for.

He was a very special mentch. The family should have nechoma
I knew chain “kenny” during my days in bmg, he was so friendly and nice
I used to see him all the time at the house of Torah & Chesed – the Kats’s on 13th Str. Chaim was friends with all their sons, JJ, Avromi Shneur, Meir Kalman, Yonah Dovid, Boruch Ezra & Binyomin Aryeh Leib, ba”h, And the Aidims, L’havdil bain Chaim L’Chaim. I would occassionally swing by for a nigun or a vurt. Chaim was often there, not like a guest, but like a Toishav. He would offer me a drink, dessert, whatever. His spirited singing & conversation topics Added a lot to the tremendous ruach in the home. And, btw, his easy going smiling demeanor masked the fact that he was an off-the-charts genius. Yehi Zichro Boruch.
Its true. Command Post is 100% right. R’ Chaim Z’l spent alot of time at the Katz Bais Torah, Tefillah V’chizuk. I saw him there many times. He was such a sweet, humble, cheerful, wonderful person. May he a mailitz Yoishet.
I remember him as a councillor in YTT camp such a nice person. His neshamah have an Aliya. Ps I remember us campers calling him seero or seerio not sure wich one.
Wow, what a tragedy!
I just spoke to him last week.
Anyone know if there are any block out times when we should not go to shiva? Like is there a specific time when they are eating dinner and we should not disturb?
the real tragedy is that he didnt marry, there is an epidemic that there are many older bochurim that are frozen like deer in headlights and don’t know where to turn. any chizuk is appreciated.
I remember ‘big Chaim Ro’ back in BMG- a big man with a big heart, likable by everyone. More than anything, his huge smile will be missed. Yehi Zichro Boruch
