Lakewood Police are searching for a reportedly armed man who was spotted in the area of Clover and Laurel Streets this morning.
As first reported on TLS Communities, the individual was reportedly seen at approximately 9:00 AM, prompting a large response from Lakewood Police officers and detectives, some of whom were armed with long guns.
It is currently unknown whether the individual is wanted in connection with any other crimes.
As the investigation continues, police have shut down Clover Street between Route 88 and Cedar Bridge Avenue.

UPDATE: 10:30 AM: Statement from the LPD: “Lakewood Police officers responded to the area of Laurel and Clover following a report of an individual who may have been armed.
As officers searched the area, a nearby school was placed on lockdown out of an abundance of caution. An individual was subsequently located in connection with the incident, and no weapon was observed or located.
At this time, there is no known threat to the public and no indication of an ongoing threat in the area.
Officers will remain in the area as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the initial report. Residents may notice a continued police presence as a precaution.
