TLS today obtained dashcam video that captured the accident that left 13 injured this morning.
Police released the following statement: On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at approximately 08:30 am officers of the Manchester Township Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of County Route 571 and County Route 547 for the report of a two-car motor vehicle crash, involving a Transit Van carrying students to school.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed a white 2020 Acura TLX located facing north on the property of 3875 Ridgeway Road (CR 571) with extensive passenger side damage and a black 2023 Ford Transit Passenger Van facing west, with the front end of the vehicle on the property of 3875 Ridgeway Road (CR 571). The black 2023 Ford Transit Passenger Van had extensive front-end damage. The investigation revealed that the Ford was traveling southbound on County Road 547 through the traffic signal at the intersection of County Road 571. The Acura was attempting to make a left turn onto County Road 571 northbound. At that time, the Acura made a left turn from the center travel lane in front of the Ford. The Ford impacted the Acura on the passenger side with the front end. The Acura was pushed off the roadway by the Ford, the front end of the Acura impacted a black 2024 Mini Cooper which was parked in the parking lot of 3875 Ridgeway Road.
The driver of the Acura, identified as 53-year-old, Tracey Kahn of Forked River, NJ, sustained facial lacerations. She was transported by Ambulance to Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ. The driver of the ford, identified as 20-year-old, Dvora Katz of Jackson, NJ, also sustained facial lacerations. She was transported to Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune, NJ. The Ford was carrying eleven juvenile students to school. The juvenile students ranged in age and four juveniles were transported to Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune, NJ via ambulance to be further evaluated for their injuries. The remaining seven juveniles were transported to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus for treatment of minor injuries via ambulance. All involved individuals are currently listed in stable condition.
Assisting at the scene were EMTs and firefighters from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services, firefighters from Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department, Robert Wood Johnson Paramedics, and EMTs from Hatzolah of Central Jersey. The investigation into this crash is still on going, however, failure to yield the right of way at an intersection and improper turning appear to be the primary contributing factors. This crash is being investigated by Ptl. Conner Yatauro of the department’s Traffic Safety Section.

When travelling through an intersection, even if you have the right of way, SLOW DOWN.
May the Almighty send a quick healing to all the injured.
If the guy making the left would’ve sped up it could have avoided the accident.

Why would it be lashon hara? The TLX was clearly at fault. Plus, whoever wrote Devora might as well write her mother’s name too.
Just saying, that the driver was not a local.. So the crazy driving is not limited to local drivers only
If you look carefully at the video, you will notice that both of these drivers were not able to see each other’s cars until the last minute because there was a car right at the edge of the intersection waiting to make a left turn.
It would make a lot of sense that if a driver has a green light but the intersection is partially blocked and you don’t have a clear view of who is turning where, you need to slow down. DO NOT ASSUME THAT ALL THE DRIVERS ARE GOING TO FOLLOW 100% THE RULES OF THE ROAD.
So I shouldn’t drive straight when I have the right of way because someone else might do something illegal?
Each & every intersection needs to be treated as an accident waiting to happen.
Shkoyach, but it isn’t my fault if I am just driving safely and avraham was placing blame on the driver driving straight. There was no reason for him to suspect what the other car did, and you are not supposed to slow down just because you are going through an intersection.
Do you ever drive faster than 10 mph? Maybe someone will drive out of a driveway and hit you! Maybe someone driving the opposite way will cross the double yellow lines! Your advice is never drive a car, because someone might do something unpredictable. With your logic, can you walk on a sidewalk? There have been stories of cars jumping curbs!
Take a defensive driving course. Then you might begin to understand.
Defensive driving courses don’t tell you to slow down when driving through an intersection because someone might turn from the wrong lane.
See what happens when vehicles being operated by dangerous driver’s aren’t immediately impounded? I see no other way.
The acura is a blistering idiot, clearly at fault.
The only bigger idiot than the acura driver is the commentator saying that van was driving fast, when van had a green light. No one on earth slows down by green lights, (I’m not discussing 90 year olds and folks with OCD)
Whoever was saying the van was driving fast is a complete idiot, it’s a 50mph zone, maybe it looks like it’s going fast because all the other cars are stopped waiting to turn, but they can is definitely not going over 50mph, and let’s say they were, is somebody expected to know that an idiot driver is gonna break the law and make a left turn from the middle lane, that clearly said straight only, there isn’t anybody at fault other than the old idiot Acura driver it’s that simple.
