Cryan: Alternative Tunnel Plan Reopens Door To Brighter Economic Future For New Jersey

cryan-tlsAssembly Majority Leader Joseph Cryan (D-Union) released the following statement today on plans by U.S. Sens. Robert Menendez and Frank Lautenberg (both D-N.J.) and Amtrak to unveil an alternative to the Hudson River commuter rail tunnel killed by Gov. Chris Christie in October: “I applaud Senators Menendez and Lautenberg for showing true leadership and vision for New Jersey’s transportation and economic future. I also thank Amtrak and the Obama administration for its commitment to New Jersey. It’s clear that this project has a long way to go, but leaders find ways to get things done and solve tough problems, and that’s what we’re seeing here under Sens. Menendez and Lautenberg”.

“Unfortunately, we still have to deal with a governor who puts ideology and YouTube moments over economic development, job creation and a better future for New Jersey, but I’m confident Assembly Democrats will stand ready to help where possible”.

“We look forward to learning more details about the plan. This much we know – a new commuter rail tunnel is critical to New Jersey’s economic future and this plan moves us back in the right direction.” TLS.

  1. some things you have to do even when there is no money, because it will be needed even more in the future & will cost tons more then.

  2. Christie is the biggest political fraud ever. He yells no money if there is or isn’t money. Not to say that there is money, but all he wants is to show his “fiscal responsibility”. Because he has chalomot of becoming president (like any other moderately successful governor or senator)

Christie, if you or your guys are reading this dribble, stop the big talk. Cut it out. Dig the hole and make us some tunnels. Do something with the position of yours.

  3. Where’s the money going to come from? If there are transportation funds available let’s fix the roads and maintain what we have!
By the way, aby idea if we’re going to get the toll increases we’ve paid to help fund the cancelled tunnel?

  4. num 5- u gotta be kidding. u have no idea what you are talking about. Besides for the price they said it is gonna cost, there are billions in over costs. Then when taxes go up, your crying that the Gov is doing nothing….. Gov Chrisie is the best thing that ever happened to NJ.
