[Photos and story-Reader Submitted] Driving down Cedarbridge Ave. (coming from New Hampshire Ave.), I saw two County workers picking up Akerman campaign posters (strictly Akerman posters) and placing it in the back of their truck. I took out my phone and took a picture of the truck. I then took a picture of the side of the truck. When the worker in the passenger seat saw me taking a picture, he took out his phone and started taking pictures of MY car. The driver, also a County worker, then took out his phone and did the same.
They then both jumped out of the truck, as we were waiting for a light, came over and yelled, “Got a problem? I hope not!” and then started taking pictures of my license plate. They tried closing the back of the truck to cover the signs, but they were having trouble with it and traffic started moving.
Although they cannot all be seen in the picture, there were between 15-20 Akerman signs in the back of the truck.
There were a number of witnesses (in their cars) to the incident as well.

taking a picture is the best deterrent don’t be scared if they take a icture of you.its only to intimidate.once you have the evidence there is not much more to do.
In case some of you dont know, those signs on the side of the road are not there legally. Whether it be advertising a business or for a politician. Both cedarbridge and new hampshire are county roads. they have every right to take these signs down. I totally agree. None of these politicians take them down after elections and they eventually litter the roads
I saw it! Right across Town Appliance. They looked like they were going to attack! Good that the truck is clearly identifiable.

And why would they take pictures of a civilian car and jump out of their truck in a threatening manner? Is that okayed by law as well??!
Its not a law yet throughout NJ but Ocean county does not allow this on country roads Such as cedarbridge (528)
Was it exclusively Akerman signs that that the county took away, or was it all signs?
If they took down just the Akerman Posters and left the others you have a legitimate issue.
But, if it was only Akerman posters that were on the road in the first place and they removed ALL signs you might not have any issue at all since we all know the old cliche: what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.Just my humble opinion.
More importantly however, posters or no posters Go Isaac Go.

Think about it, the town and county are run mostly by republicans- i think people are jumping to conclusions. there are ackerman signs everywhere and they were probably told to remove all signs. doing their job.

I was driving down New Hampshire on Friday and I saw it myself. Only Akerman signs were removed. There were signs for Kelly and Lacey left on the road.
The moran who posted the DPW is corrupt should learn to READ> It was COUNTY employees that removed the signs NOT Lakewood DPW. Also… Just because the guy says they removed only ackerman signs does not make it true.
All this aside, Get out and vote for ackerman and do not write in HH.

Oh come on, this happened many times in last year’s campaign. They were probably put in an illegal area. All campaign workers need to know the rules.

I’d really like to know what was so harmful in my earlier post. Fact is fact. We WERE picking up ALL signs, not just Akerman signs. Following orders from our superiors. When it comes to the political scene in Lakewood, I have no dog in your fight so it doesnt matter whos signs I pick up.. Fortunately I only have to *work* there. I *live* in a much better place.
