PHOTO: Six weeks after being struck and critically injured by a vehicle, Yitzchak ben Yocheved has returned home, the boy’s father tells TLS.
The 7 year old was struck at the intersection of Kelm Woods and Hillside Boulevard on March 16, and flew over 20 feet – landing just inches from a curb, the father related to TLS.
When Hatzolah personnel arrived, Yitzchak was unconscious and heavily bleeding from his head. Traffic & Safety was summoned due to the severity of the trauma.
He was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center, where he remained in an induced coma.
But, says Yitzchak’s father, the Tfillos (prayers) definitely worked and the Doctors were shocked to see a major turn for the better.
Just before Pesach, Yitzchak left the Hospital and was placed in a rehab center. This past Erev Shabbos, Yitzchak was finally brought back home.
“With the help of all your Tehilim and Tefillos, his recovery has been faster than what the doctors had predicted,” Yitzchak’s father tells TLS. “He is bli ayin hara doing amazing – breathing, walking, talking, eating, etc. Although he’s still receiving some therapy, we are hopeful for a full recovery.”
“We would like to thank everyone for all of their help and support. To list everybody’s names would be impossible, so please accept this as a personal thank you for all of your help,” he said.
He added, “We would like to give a special thank you to Hatzalah, Bikur Cholim, Doctors, Misameach, Chai Lifeline, Volunteers, friends and family who slept, stayed and entertained Yitzchak, neighbors and friends who helped bring Pesach into our home, family who pulled us through with so much support, gifts to all the kids, texts and phone calls of offers to help or just to show us care and concern, rides to and from the hospital, visitors etc. We couldn’t have pulled through this without all of you. May we share only in simchos and see nissim and greet moshiach bimheira veyameinu.”
On Lag Ba’omer, Yitzchak was brought in wheelchair to his school to partake in the school’s bonfire (pictured). With his classmates following behind, Yitzchak was wheeled around the bonfire, celebrating the Lag Ba’Omer he was Zoche (fortunate enough) to experience once again. [TLS]
