A child cyclist was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle in Lakewood this afternoon.
The child, said to be approximately 10 years old, was struck on Kennedy Boulevard shortly before 6:00 PM. He was wearing a helmet.
Hatzolah responded and transported the patient with paramedics to JSUMC.
That is the second bicycle accident today. Parents, please educate your children on proper safety when riding bikes, looking before crossing the street for oncoming cars and not riding in the streets close to cars. Many times they are at fault, not the drivers. Summertime is here and safety is of utmost priority for your children.
