CHEMED this afternoon released the following update with regards to those who can be tested for coronvirus.

#1 – Underlying illness or age >60 with Symptoms ​

#2 – High risk contacts (FAMILY or WORK) with Symptoms ​

#3 – Anyone with severe symptoms – very subjective we understand, but provider should use clinical judgment.​​

Young patients, otherwise healthy, not severe symptoms, CANNOT be tested. ​

We have to convince people that they HAVE coronavirus and need to quarantine!​

If they have shortness of breath, they should go to the hospital. ​

Anyone can come for evaluation (for strep of flu) if they feel it is necessary however they should know that testing for COVID is not necessarily part of workup. ​​
