PHOTOS: Today marked the beginning of this year’s annual Toy Drive for Chai Lifeline. Over the next few weeks, kids of all ages across the New Jersey/Pennsylvania region, will collect toys for the children of Chai Lifeline. The toys are packaged and distributed to the ill children and their siblings, bringing them a sense of joy and celebration, a feeling that is rare in their challenging lives.
“When a child is born or diagnosed with a serious illness, the entire family is affected”, says Rabbi Sruli Fried, NJ Regional Director. “Our goal is to bring smiles to the faces of Chai Lifeline children and for each child in the family to feel special and that they are cared for.”
And the Toy Drive is doing just that.
“Knowing that other children are involved in the Toy Drive, helps alleviate my daughter’s loneliness”, a Chai Lifeline parent says. “When she receives the box of toys, she knows that she is not in this fight [against cancer] alone.”
Thanks to the generosity of a few local toy stores, (Judaica Plaza, Bubble Blasste, and Toys4Thought) Toy Drive donors can purchase toys and a portion of the purchase will be donated to help purchase additional gifts.
