For a wheelchair-bound child, getting to and from the hospital can be a daunting challenge. Rides to medical appointments are often overwhelming and require complex planning, as availability and cost of accessible vehicles is extremely prohibitive.
When a teenager with cancer with limited mobility had to get from Lakewood to CHOP daily for outpatient treatment for weeks in a row, multiple Chai Lifeline volunteers stepped in to selflessly provide rides to and from the hospital day after day. Chai Lifeline’s transportation reached out to Rabbi Daniel Goodman from M&M Chesed, who graciously made one of their loaner wheelchair accessible vehicles available, thereby ensuring that the patient was able to travel comfortably to CHOP each morning and back home after a long day of treatment.
“Chai Lifeline thanks M&M Chesed Mobility for making this challenging time easier for the family,” said Yehuda Fryer, Chai Lifeline NJ/PA transportation coordinator. “It’s community partners like M&M Chesed Mobility that help us ensure that every family facing serious illness has the support they need at every step of their challenging journey.”
