Central Jersey Misaskim Assisting Following Fatal Maryland Plane Crash That Claimed Lives of Three Israelis [PHOTOS – VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED]

Members of Misaskim of Central Jersey have been actively involved in assisting following the tragic plane crash in Maryland that claimed the lives of three Israeli citizens over the weekend, TLS has learned.

The victims were aboard a single-engine Piper aircraft that crashed in a wooded area of Bowie, Maryland, near a residential neighborhood. Authorities say the aircraft had departed from Ocean City, New Jersey, and was en route to Montgomery County Airpark when it went down. All three occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, ZAKA officials reached out to Misaskim of Central Jersey for assistance. Misaskim of Central Jersey subsequently coordinated with Misaskim of Baltimore, and volunteers have been working together with local authorities and other agencies to ensure proper kavod hameis and facilitate the complex arrangements that follow such an incident.

Significant efforts are now underway to arrange for the transfer of the niftarim back to their hometowns. The process involves extensive coordination between local authorities, medical examiners, international agencies, and the families of the victims.

Among those assisting with the response is Matis Melnick, who has been helping coordinate communications and logistical arrangements as the various organizations work together on behalf of the families.

The crash remains under investigation by federal aviation authorities, who are working to determine what caused the aircraft to go down. Authorities have not yet publicly released the identities of the victims.

Community members involved in the response praised the cooperation between ZAKA, Misaskim of Central Jersey, and Misaskim of Baltimore, whose volunteers have been working tirelessly to ensure the victims are treated with the utmost dignity and respect during this difficult time.

Once, when a Yid from Lakewood died in a small plane that crashed, around 2000, he said that we tend to say ‘oh, it was because it was small plane’, but everything is min shamayim (from heaven).
(But maybe small planes have to take a message from large ones and do very good maintenance. I supposed it was maintained properly – according to requirements, still, maybe things can be even better.)
