CAUGHT ON VIDEO: Lakewood Police Apprehend Home Burglary Suspect

A home burglary suspect is in custody this morning after being apprehended by Lakewood police.

Shortly after 8:00 AM, police received a call about a home burglary in progress in the Woodlake Manor development. The homeowner was home at the time, and saw the suspect leaving her home, fleeing on bike.

Ptl. Tim Zavalnyuk began searching the area, and a short time later spotted the suspect on Ridge Avenue.

Officer Zavalnyuk immediately got out of his vehicle and approached the suspect (caught on a passerby’s dashcam video), and took him into custody.

Police located several proceeds on his person.

He was transported to Lakewood Police headquarters for booking.

  1. Good cameras caught the robber. Pulling up a gun could have ended in the death of the robber or possibly the homeowner. Lesson: Don’t be quick to pull the trigger, but make sure to install a good security system so you could rely on your Hishtadlus and on Shomer Yisroel.

  2. The police should check out if his bike was really his.
It could be impounded, being that it was used in conjunction with the crime.

  3. seams like a waste of PD time for so many and so many PD cars for 1 person that did NOT fight or try to get away from the ONE officer, all the others could be out on other needs.
