CARPOOLING DRILL: Police Chief: Lakewood and Sheriff’s Officers Will Stage at Key Intersections

Chief Lawson TLSWith the carpooling drill expected to get underway tomorrow morning, the Lakewood Police Department as well as other emergency services are gearing up for what could be a nightmare.

Lakewood Police Chief Rob Lawson tells TLS that Lakewood Police Officers will be staged at many key intersections around town to ensure the flow of traffic isn’t interrupted and that intersections aren’t blocked.

Officers will man close to twenty key intersections, including intersections along the Route 9 and Route 88 corridors, Clifton Avenue and others.

In addition to the officers being utilized from the Traffic & Safety and School Resource departments, Sherrif’s officers from the Ocean County Sheriff Department will be on hand to assist with the traffic, the Police Chief said. [TLS]

  1. So I guess they will be volunteering to do that on a daily basis for the coming schools years as well. Would that be a correct assumption?

  2. Chief, THANK YOU but I think you better work on getting more officers bc if this isn’t done every single day then we are going to need more ambulances ,tow trucks and body shops

  3. Should the police be warned about this facebook comment? Sounds like he is seriously threatening to shoot people tomorrow if he gets stuck in traffic.
Jackie Krutulis I support my 2nd amendment. Be warned

  4. WERE IS THE $$$$$$$
We pay taxes almost the highest in the nation our kids don’t go to public school .
Fire dept is underfunded & run by volunteers
Again we should ask the state to autit lakewood township & board of education
    again enough enough
    were will this end ??

  5. Chief I know you are trying to help but we need to see how this is going to play out. If the state does what it should and not pay for the “courtesy” bussing this will be our new normal. The only way we will be able to prepare is to see what is going to happen. Lets let the chips fall where they may . We wont be able to fix the problems if we wont see the trouble spots !

  6. To Tax payer

Do you know that lakewood has a very high volume of illegals? Do you realize these ppl cost the town millions ? They use fire dept, streets, garbage, parks, and every single other thing tax paying citizens use. Maybe the money is there.

  7. I hope the police etc., can exercise patience. Taxpayer your right, this will possibly ease up things and not give a true picture and I wonder also, are they doing everyday then?
P.S. Maybe they should follow up ion that Facebook page and hopefully they are taking extra security measures.

  8. Maspik kvar, thanks to these “illegals” no one is paying them vacation days or sick days. That would cost you and others money, maybe you should encourage the migratory reform and the economy would boost up by a high percentage if us “illegals” COULD pay taxes. All this money would turn up, wish for a migratory reform, pray to hashem, because we illegals are not going anywhere anytime soon. Thank you

  9. #12 you would rather have all the children in public schools and have public bussing that will cost the taxpayers tens of millions of dollars more. Wake up and smell the coffee
