Car Thief Tackled By Police After LCSW Catches Him In The Act

A thief who broke into a vehicle and attempted to make off with it, was tackled by police after LCSW members caught him in the act, TLS has learned.

At approximately 3 AM this morning, LCSW received several phone calls about a suspicious black male walking around the area of Monmouth Avenue and 4th Street, and dispatched several members to observe the situation.

LCSW volunteers arrived to the area and located the man, who they began observing froma  distance.

About 15 minutes later, the LCSW members watched as the man broke into a car on Forest Ave, and immediately dispatched police.

Police arrived moments later and found the suspect who began fleeing from police. Officers pursued the perpetrator and and after a brief chase caught up with him and tackled him to the ground. He was placed under arrest and taken into custody.

  1. Way to go LPD! Way to go LCSW! This is exactly what a community watch patrol is all about and why it’s so important. Police can’t be everywhere and also can’t spend the time (especially without being noticed) to wait and watch someone (especially someone who’s not white because then they’d be accused of racially profiling him by watching from a distance). A community patrol acts as extra eyes and ears for the police, and the police trust them to know to respond to their calls quickly.

  2. Nice job LCSW and LPD. May be we could free up the local police for more crime patrolling by having the State Police visit town more often to handle motor vehicle issues. This would free up local officers to handle the real crime.

  3. It’s a shame that Lcsw does this great work for a town that doesn’t support them financially or in other ways, criticizes there members by bashing there work “” why call them? Why this why that, it’s a shame that Lakewood doesn’t see the value in Lcsw this town is full of a bunch of cop groopies, but I know one thing for sure the guy that had his property returned from his car at 3 in the morning sees Lcsw in a different light then they might have a day before

  4. These volunteers do this kind of stuff at all hours of the night, maybe as a town we could come together and donate body armor vests to show we care about saftey and at 3am no matter what kind of following Lcsw does there’s no excuse they aren’t protected

  5. Mr. ghost. Nobody said that a black male walking around at 3 AM is suspicious. What they said was that the man was suspicious, and he was also black. And guess what? The guy went ahead and broke into a car! So obviously their suspicions turned out correct!!!!!!!!!

  6. Ghost this black male was called on because a resident saw him at 3 am trying to fumble around with car doors, this isn’t suspicious to you? Ghost

  7. Awake at 3 AM for another piece of kugel, some kishke and a bowl of cholent to build up energy for a pre-dawn bike ride while it’s still cool and be in shape for the Bike4Chai next week.

Anyone can walk around at anytime; it’s the behavior that is suspicious. There were several calls indicating that someone seems to be lurking around seeking a target, not merely walking by and passing through.

  8. GREAT JOB EVERYONE! this is what a “community” is all about. everyone helping others and watching out for one another.

  9. I happen to love Lcsw and the work they do, they helped me out in the past great organization and now with great leadership, you guys are much appreciated

  10. Great so you wait until a crime is committed and then contact police who have to Chase the guy now and fight with him putting themselves in more danger than thy should’ve been. Way to go! Lcsw dispatches police? I think not! Call the cops let them deal w that party. Someone’s going to get hurt one day and its because the community thinks that Lcsw is their middle man to the police. Cops aren’t civilians who watch. They are paid professionals that are highly trained….quit hindering them by forgoing common sense. Call the police!

  11. Common sense you couldn’t be more WRONG !!! Police won’t follow a guy for 15 20 minutes they will come see he’s not doing anything and say bye bye leaving him free to do whatever he wants, at least Lcsw had the man power to keep him followed stopping him in the act ! Wake up!

  12. Police don’t have the time interest or manpower to invest on one guy who maybe will or will not commit a crime, good job Lcsw this is exzactly how you get results time and patience, and there volunteers common sense should be ashamed putting them down, get off your bed in 3 in the morning and let me see your fat — do something productive for the community !
