Toms River Township’s CFO and Engineer have resigned, TLS has learned.

Township Engineer Wendy A. Birkhead, PE, CME – who was promoted after the Engineer, Robert J. Chankalian, PE, CME was fired – resigned several days ago, while Chief Financial Officer Judith Tutela resigned today.

An email to the engineer was returned with an ‘out of office’ bounce-back, and we have not yet received a response from the CFO.

TLS reached out to another Township official, who stated he was unaware of the developments.

Toms River Mayor Dan Rodrick tells TLS, “I believe both of these resignations were politically timed and designed to hurt my administration and the old club’s attempt to be recertified at the convention on Thursday.” He added, “Mo Hill and his friends are desperately trying to hold on to the county line, but they will fail. The old club will be recertified.”
