UPDATED 12:55 AM: A person stabbed during a fight late Monday night crashed his vehicle while fleeing the scene, and died shortly afterwards, sources confirm to TLS.
The chain of events reportedly began in the Martin Luther King Drive area around 11 PM, sources say.
After being stabbed, the victim reportedly got into his vehicle and fled the scene, crashing into a utility pole at the 7-11 on River Avenue.
“He fell out of his door and said I was stabbed,” a source on scene said.
An official on scene said “there was a significant amount of blood loss.”
According to another source, the victim was stabbed multiple times.
The unidentified victim, said to be around 32 years old, was transported to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus with CPR in progress. He was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after arriving, sources confirm to TLS.
An investigation is underway by Lakewood’s Detective Bureau, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and CSI.
