Pedestrian struck and killed by vehicle in Lakewood [UPDATED] (PHOTO)

A pedestrian was struck and killed this evening in Lakewood, officials say.The accident occurred around 5 PM on Route Shorrock Street.

Police say the pedestrian was crossing in middle of the road when she was struck by a vehicle, driven by a 56-year-old. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim was as identified as 53-year-old Irene Perosi, of Lakewood.

The area is being shut down for the investigation.

Lakewood’s Detective Bureau, CSI and the Prosecutor’s Office are investigating.

Shorrock Street will be shut between Route 70 and Beaverton Boulevard until further notice.

This is terrible. A day after traffic safety comes to town, to cut down on pedestrian deaths, a pedestrian dies.
