BREAKING: Mother, child struck on Rt. 88 in Lakewood (PHOTOS)

A mother and child were hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle on Route 88, police confirmed to TLS.

The accident occurred shortly before noon just West of Clover Street.

Hatzolah and EMS responded to the scene.

The patients were both transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Injuries don’t appear life-threatening, police said.

Route 88 is shut in both directions between Pearl Street and Clover Street for the investigation by Traffic Safety.

The only way to stop such occurrences is to build housing on the driving lanes of routes 9 and 88 themselves. That would totally stop any speeding and complaints of traffic jams.
