TLS today contacted MMCSC regarding a tip we received stating a patient who was at the Center was tested positive for Coronavirus.
The Center released the following statement to TLS:
“RWJBarnabas Health is committed to ensure the health and safety of all patients, employees and clinicians.
Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus (MMCSC) had a patient present in the Emergency Department last week with symptoms consistent with COVID-19. The patient was tested and discharged to self-quarantine at home. Test results later confirmed the patient was positive for COVID-19. The patient remains at home in self-quarantine. There are currently no inpatients at MMCSC with COVID-19.
All RWJBarnabas Health facilities are strictly adhering to the recommended procedures and guidelines as directed by both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and NJ Department of Health. Both patients are doing well and are pending discharge.
We continue to be on high alert across the entire health care system and are fully prepared to treat COVID-19 patients as well as all other medical and clinical issues as usual.

I am a regular outpatient in the Infusion Department. I am praying for my doctor, chemotherapy nurses, aides, housekeepers, social workers, registrars, security personnel and others who are on the front line of treatment for myself and my fellow patients in Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus, Lakewood, NJ. I support and appreciate the work that you do on our behalf.
Did they stop tracking people with a positive diagnosis since it’s presumed to be everywhere?
There are likely many cases in Lakewood , but most centers will not test unless the patient is 65+ or has lung or immune system issues. So, we have no idea how many actual positive cases we have right now!
Don’t understand- “currently no inpatients. “ “Both patients are doing well and are pending discharge.”
These statements are contradictory. What’s the story?

I am very concerned about how many cases of Covid 19 there are in Lakewood based on the continuous number of people moving around in groups. We all must be mindful of each other and do what the CDC says.
Smh there are patients with the virus there I don’t know why they not saying it
