Several men were arrested today in connection with multiple robberies around Lakewood, including a vicious attack against a Chosson from London, England, police confirm.
Police say the chain of events that led them to the arrests began on July 19.
On July 19th, a Lakewood woman reported that she was robbed while pushing a child’s stroller on Linden Avenue.
According to the woman, she was approached by three unknown individuals. One of the suspects proceeded to spray her in the face with an unknown substance, possibly “pepper spray”, and then take her wallet, cell phone, digital camera and keys.
The victim stated that the three suspects then fled in a red, 4-door sedan with a rear spoiler.
Approximately two hours later, patrol officers were dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle accident, involving a red, 4-door sedan with a spoiler on it, in the area of Madison Avenue and 9th Street (pictured).
Upon arrival, witnesses to the accident, informed the Officers that the occupants of the red vehicle fled the area on foot.
An investigation conducted by Officers Nathaniel Reyes, Michael Mooney Jr. and Officer Dennis Dowden of The Traffic Safety Unit confirmed that the vehicle involved in the accident was in fact used in the robbery.
In addition, Officer Reyes and Mooney discovered that the robbery victim’s credit cards were being used in various local businesses.
Evidence of the transactions led to the identification of 19 year Jasheir Powell of Martin Luther King Drive (Lakewood), 22 year old Quadirah Booker of Massachusetts Avenue (Lakewood) and 20 year old Toraya Evans of Princewood Avenue (Lakewood).
All three were charged with Robbery in connection with the July 19th incident. Jasheir Powell received additional charges for Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Credit Card Theft and Fraudulent Use of a Stolen Credit Card.
In addition, information obtained during the course of this investigation led to the discovery that Powell, Booker and Evans were also responsible for an additional Robbery and Theft that occurred the evening of April 23rd 2015.
According to reports, a Chestnut Ridge NY man, was on Lanes Mill Road when a vehicle pulled up to him and an occupant demanded his money.
The victim handed over his personal belongings, including $60 and his drivers license prior to the suspects fleeing the area.
Approximately 10 minutes later, Officers were dispatched to a reported robbery that had just occurred on Ridge Avenue.
Upon arrival, the victim stated that he was approached by a small vehicle. Two of the occupants exited the car and demanded his valuables. When the victim began to back away, both suspects lunged at him and began assaulting him as they tried to take his property.
After their unsuccessful attempt, they ran back to the car and fled prior to police arrival.
Further investigation by Det. Peter Aakjer, determined that Powell, Booker and Evans were also responsible for the events the evening of April 23rd. All three were charged with Attempted Robbery and Theft.
At this time, investigations are ongoing and the three suspects are believed to possibly have involvement in additional crimes.

We demand that these thugs to rot in jail for as long as possible and then some. This is why we taxpayers hire a prosecutor and provide him with expensive resources. He better do a good job and not disappoint us. Remove these violent criminals off our streets and keep them off!
Amen!!
We congratulate the LPD for apprehending these criminals? Are these also responsible for the recent string of break-ins in the 14th street area?
They’ll get 18 months & they’ll walk after 12 mos. sad but true. They didnt have a weapon. Unless they can get them on aggravated assault these guys will be out by next summer.
They had a hard life. Give them a break.
I know all 3 of them. We can all claim to have had hard lives…. this excuses NO crime.
Jj was being sarcastic. Making fun of our sad court system that will let these thugs out in a year or so. . . Problem is these guys don’t realize that their actions to get a few hundred bucks at most will now cap their salary for life at minimum wage as no real business would hire people with a rap sheet that includes these crimes. So very smart thinking on their part; make $500 now but cap your salary for life. . . Lessom for all theifs wanna be’s-its not worth it.
They should all have their food stamps taken away. They obviously don’t need them with all they’ve been stealing.
