    • He could’ve been working on the inside of it. Maybe welding a hole or something and someone else thought it was empty and dumped something in there

  1. I would like at this time to recount a harrowing experience that I had at the Lakewood Public Works while disposing of some items. I was told by a Rov to bentch Gomel after the experience. Hopefully the following description of what happened can prevent anything like this from ever happening again. I came with my items to the area where you stand above different bins to dispose of various types of items. Among my items to dispose of were window shades. I was told by the one in charge to go over by myself to the bin below that had a compactor. The worker turned on the compactor and I started throwing the items into the bin. As I tossed in one of the window shades, the string became wrapped around my leg tightly with the weight of the shade now inside the bin below, making it impossible to untie it. I watched as the compactor was making its way over to the front of the bin and realized that when it reached the shade I would soon be pulled in – Chv’sh! I pulled on the string but to no avail. began yelling for help but the worker on duty was inside the booth and could not hear me. I said a quick tefilla and pulled on the string with all my might, the string cut into my flesh like a knife. With a “pop”, the blind somehow came flying out. and landed at my feet and I breathed a sigh of relief. I am very very luck to be alive. I hope someone reads this who can use the information constructively.

  2. It’s hard to believe that someone in charge of such dangerous equipment didn’t offer to help you. To my knowledge residents are not to be using those machines unsupervised. You are lucky and hopefully you will leave the dirty work for the employees.

  3. Please no negative comments. I know this person personally and his family is mourning. He has young children and was a stellar, kind man. Please just pray for his wife, parents, sibling, and everyone that knew him.
