BREAKING UPDATE Thursday 8:05 AM: The patient pulled from the burning apartment in Lakewood yesterday has died, TLS has learned.
The identity of the victim is expected to be released later today.
(Although the patient had died shortly after being removed from the apartment, TLS held off publishing the information until the next of kin was notified.)

One person was seriously injured after a fire ripped through a structure in Lakewood this afternoon.
The fire broke out shortly after 2:00 PM on Sampson Avenue.
Neighbors tell TLS an explosion blew out a window to the building, setting the structure on fire. Officials have not yet confirmed that.
Police and firefighters went door to door in search of victims, and came across one victim. The victim was removed with serious burns, and CPR was being performed.
