  1. I don’t think anyone has the right to comment on what e should or shouldn’t do. If he feels it isn’t safe for whatever reason then that’s up to him to decide!! When you sponsor a party then you can make your own decisions !!!

  2. I am dismayed by the first 2 comments. Do you think you know better than Dr. Roberts? He has been studying COVID-19 for the last 30 years and so I think he knows better and is making what he deems to be the prudent call. Thank you.

  3. Come on. Be real. So why isn’t there a call in this town for gatherings to not take place this Purim? If it’s not safe at the Roberts then it should not be safe anywhere?? Is the need to gather and party on Purim more important than safety? Even if it is precautionary?

  4. Don’t worry, I’m sure Rich will come up with a creative way not to abandon the collectors .
    BTW
I think DR Roberts should be the Corona Czar

    • Imagine you were Dr. Roberts, would you think that it is fair to make such a comment?
Hashem was not so happy when Penina hurt the feelings of Chanah.

    • I noticed from your comment that life is not so rosy for you.
Maybe if you start giving people the benefit of the doubt, the same person that helped Dr Roberts succeed, he will also help you and shower you with many blessings.

  5. I think a majority of the comments here are being made by ignorant and nasty people. You sound as if Dr Roberts generosity is deserved by you whether via a Purim party, handouts or carnival. Your derogatory comments about canceling Megillah or shule are childish responses to a situation that might really require more seriousness.
In a close knit community as ours all it would take is one carrier to reek havoc God forbid.

  6. wow this is crazy i wait all year for this party maybe he can put up a sighn dance at your own risk and have security with maskes give out his pekaloch

  7. It is astounding that people are so cavalier about this. There are multiple from people in New York who have it end it is highly likely that there are hundreds more from people who have contracted it from them during the incubation period. Well the threat is low for healthy young people it is extremely serious for the older people, our parents, grandparents, Roshei Yeshiva etc. as well as those with underlying health conditions. Not to mention that if one person in a large Bais medrash tests positive, the NJ health department WILL put every single one of the hundreds of people in that beis medrash into a quarantine at home for 14 days.It is not a time to panic but it is a time to be mispallel and take precautions.

  8. Did anyone think based in his background and what he does he is using an abundance of caution? If his party caused a mass outbreak it wouldn’t look very good. If he thought it was necessary to cancel Megillah, he would advise that to the community and Rabbonim.

  9. TheMaven – actually the virus is mentioned in the megilah itself and not just in the Shoshanas Yaakov. It says right at the beginning ‘Vayehi Bimay AchushVIRUS’

  10. Not that I am one to Judge, but to me, this makes 100% sense.

True the carnivorous is not considered a major threat to the average person. But what if there is an event, where thousands of people would be coming to meet you in very close quarters. The risk is severely compounded.

So while I am not personally concerned for myself, and I have no concerns about treating Purim as I always have, if I was in the same position, I don’t know how comfortable I would feel about hosting an event that would draw thousands of people to me in very confined quarters.

  11. Rabossai the message is clear hashem wants us to do some teshuva so he sent the coronovirus moshiach is at the doorstep waiting to come in
in germatria spelled in hebrew moshiach equals 358 so does corona
kuf aleph reish aleph nun aleph heh equals 358
let it be venohapchu this purim from golus to geulah omein

  12. A lot of people making light of this. Saying it’s like the flu. Really? Then why has Israel shut down almost all air travel? Quarantining boats for the “flu” ? This is not the flu and there are reasons why Dr Roberts has cancelled his Purim party and the Ger Rebbe has canceled his Purim Tish…. because this is anything but the flu and if you look up Dr John Campbell’s channel… you might get why we health professionals are worried.
