A Brooklyn resident was seriously burned following a fiery plane crash in New Jersey today, police say.
At approximately 3:25 p.m., Linden Emergency Dispatch was notified of a plane on fire at the Linden Municpal Airport.
First responders arrived on scene and quickly located a 2003 Fixed wing, single engine aircraft engulfed on the taxiway. The fire was quickly extinguished by Linden Fire Department personnel.
The sole occupant of the plane, a 40-year-old Brooklyn resident, exited the plane before emergency personnel arrived. He was transported to St. Barnabas Burn Center with serious burns to arms and lower extremities.
The incident remains under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration, National Transportation Safety Board, New Jersey State Fire Marshall’s Office, Union County Arson Investigation Team, Union County Hazmat, and Linden Fire Department.
