BREAKING: Jackson Council Vice President Alex Sauickie Chosen To Fill Ronald Dancer’s Seat

Republican county committee members from New Jersey’s 12th legislative district have elected Jackson Council Vice President Alex Sauicki  to replace the late Assemblyman Ronald Dancer, who passed away last month following a lengthy illness.

There were two other candidates on the ballot besides for Sauickie: Dominick Cuozzo, a Plumsted Township Committeeman and former Jackson Councilman Scott Martin.

Martin served for three terms on the township council before losing his seat in 2018.

The final vote was 106 for Sauickie, 44 for Cuozzo and 3 for Martin.

Although the 12th district covers 4 counties, Ocean, Burlington, Monmouth and Middlesex, the Middlesex, Burlington and Monmouth county chairmen agreed to let Dancer’s seat remain in Ocean County, as per a 2011 deal agreed to by Ocean County Republican Chairman George Gilmore and the former three county chairmen following the 2010 redistricting.

Jackson and Plumsted are the only two towns from Ocean County which are included in the 12th Legislative District.

Sauickie, who will have to be replaced on the Jackson Council, will have to be sworn by Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin either when the Legislature reconvenes in the fall, or in private.

There will be another election in November to serve the remainder of Dancer’s term, which will be up next year.

  1. Upon hearing that Alex Sauickie – who, according to a recent TLS report, worked to bar Jews in Jackson from having a place to pray, thus making it more difficult for them to pray – has been chosen to fill Ronald Dancer’s legislative seat, one Lakewood resident told reporters that he will work to ban the aforementioned legislative seat and remove it from the State Assembly chamber, thus making it more difficult for Mr. Sauickie to sit.
