BREAKING: 86 Ocean County residents potentially exposed to Measles; Officials warn outbreak is likely far from being over

Eighty-six Ocean County residents recently attended an invitation only event where measles exposure may have occurred, health officials said today.

The Ocean County Health Department is endeavoring to contact all of the potentially exposed persons and others in its continued investigation and efforts in support of containing the measles outbreak.

While Ocean County’s confirmed measles cases remain at 18, with 6 remaining under investigation, Ocean County Health Department Public Health Coordinator Daniel E. Regenye, cautions that the measles outbreak is likely far from being over.

“While it is understandable that many would like to file this outbreak into the history books, we must continue to be vigilant and to take all necessary precautions to avoid an escalation of this measles outbreak,” Regenye said. “The unchanged number of confirmed cases demonstrates the effectiveness of public health measures already put into place and we are grateful for the efforts of community leaders and members of the public who have embraced and amplified the messaging from the Ocean County Health Department.” “Our message now is to remain informed on the status of potential measles exposure, insure that one’s family is fully vaccinated and protected, and encourage others in the community to do likewise as we work towards the eventual eradication of measles in our County,” concluded Regenye.

Ocean County Health Department epidemiologists continue to work with their State counterparts to identify sources of exposure and multiple contacts continue to be made throughout the community to investigate, educate and warn potentially exposed persons.

  1. it’s amazing that these six are under investigation for quite a while already.
Is it at all possible that these cases are left pending intentionally…

  2. “invitation only event”? Would it be too much to ask that the reporter “where”? Any report that does not include 1) who, 2) what, 3) where and 4) when is just gossip. Bad news.

  3. They can just have blood test done and close the investigation cases .
Don’t get why they waiting for so long to get everyone to panic

  4. Outbreak still ongoing. Anti-vaxxers not reporting the cases. I heard of a couple of cases in my son’s yeshiva but did not see number of official cases go up.

  5. Why is the scoop only reporting the measles ‘epidemic’? What about the extremely contagious shigella outbreak, the dangerous RSV outbreak, or the very unpleasant hand, foot and mouth outbreak? Why are playgroups/ schools/ shuls still open? There are thousands of deadly viruses that 100% of the lakewood population is unvaccinated against! Our entire city must be baby killers because we are all walking around unimmunized against so many pathogens!

    • Dont worry, when people wake up and realize that they have been duped and that they gave their kids poison to try and prevent a fearles illness ,the big pharma will create another scare tactic that will frighten people and make them run away from their own shadows.fool me once shame on you, fool me for 50 years shame on me

  6. If there was a way to rid the world of RSV you would be right.
But there is not. So what relevance does it have that people can die from many things.
If you don’t want to vaccinate, fine whatever, but don’t say irrational points
