Bikur Cholim Rooms in all area hospitals have been prepared and stocked for Succos– stocked with machzorim, Lulavim and Esrogim, grape juice, reading material, hot and cold food — anything a patient or their family may need during Yom Tov. The rooms are open and available 24/7 for use the entire Yom Tov should the need arise. Every area hospital has a succah available for use.
“Bikur Cholim has prepared over 2,000 hot meals for this Yom Tov season,” says Bikur Cholim Food Department Coordinator Rabbi Nuti Fried. “These meals were all cooked and baked in the state of the art Bikur Cholim kitchen by Rabbi Matzliach and a team of dedicated High School girls.”
Bikur Cholim has also lent out over 100 Wheelchairs in the last two weeks, on top of the over 200 pieces of other equipment, such as shower chairs, knee scooters, walkers etc. Many of these items were home delivered by the Health and Home Department.
“Bikur Cholim would like to thank Ocean Home Health for lending us 12 wheelchairs to be able to keep up with the demand.”
Bikur Cholim has also arranged for many patients that need to get to there Dr’s over Yom Tov, for a non-jew to take them there and back.
Bikur Cholim has Pantries in Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus, Monmouth Medical Center Northern Campus, Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Ocean Medical Center, Community Medical Center, Robert Wood Johnson and the Manhattan Friendship House. Food is also available at St. Barnanbas in Livingston and Deborah Heart and Lung upon request from dietary.
