A Lakewood resident today shared with TLS that they received this week two batches of wedding return cards, both of which were found to have been opened and their contents missing.
The return cards – all which were clearly tampered with – have apparently been gone through in search of checks.
If you’ve also experienced this, be sure to report it to authorities and the local post office.
Additionally, if you’ve recently sent out checks with a return card, you may want to keep an eye on the check to ensure it wasn’t stolen and fraudulently cashed.

As if there is anyone to talk to in the post office ..
We had this too, it happens under the post office’s nose. Nobody to talk to.
Most banks today will put a “stop payment” on a check for free in such a scenario (fraud).
Are you sure they were opened and tampered with? Last summer we had the same thing happen. We filed a police report, and then realized that the empty return envelopes that we received came back too quickly to have been mailed to the recipients and then returned to us.
Then we figured it out. What actually happened was that there was a heat wave, and the heat outside made the envelope seal ineffective so the entire wedding invitation envelopes opened up and the reply cards simply fell out somewhere in the USPS system. We brought this to the attention of BP graphics and they said it was due to the unusual heat but shouldn’t have happened and they would address this issue with the supplier. I’ll bet that’s what happened here.
And then one wonders why the corrupt thieving USPS loses over $16 billion dollars every single year. Yep. Just keep hiring those DEI illegals who can barely speak English.
Is the thief was worker in the post office?
Well just happened to me. And check was cleared. Sender noticed that something was wrong and called me. I did call the police dept, but they refused to take a report!!! Said that the sender (in Brooklyn) has to file a report. Tried explaining her that it is obviously a Lakewood issue, but got nowhere!
