Two men convicted of multiple burglaries have recently been released from prison and are back on the streets of Lakewood, Police Chief Rob Lawson confirms to TLS.
The men, from Lakewood, were apprehended several years ago by Lakewood Police, and have been sentenced to prison. They sat in state prison for 2-3 years, and were released several weeks ago, Lawson says.
Since their release back into Lakewood, there has been a spike in home burglaries, and police believe there may be a direct connection.
Over the past few weeks, says the Chief, there have been multiple home burglaries around Lakewood, with similar burglary patterns – prying at the locked doors.
In one particular home burglary occurring last weekend, the burglar(s) pushed in a window, and stole approximately $250,000 in jewelry, the Chief says.
In another incident, the burglar(s) walked out of a home with a 70 inch TV screen – all apparently done in broad daylight. Approximately $1,000 in change was taken from the same home.
The Chief says the incidents are under investigation, and many jewelry photos and descriptions are being distributed to local pawn shops – as part of a joint program between many municipalities – in hopes of retrieving some of the stolen items.
The Chief also encourages homeowners, especially during these summer vacation months, to ensure their homes are properly secured and alarmed if possible.
If you know you’re neighbor is away at work or on vacation, and you notice suspicious activity around his home, be sure to phone police at 732-363-0200.

Uh…..
FINGERPRINTS???
they shouldn’t have been released. They should have to trade places with Rubashkin. They’re a menace to society while Rubashkin isn’t.
If it is these released convicts breaking into houses, they need to be locked up for more the 2-3 years. This is whats wrong with our prison sentence, everyone gets a sentence, maybe after these sentences
Can we have the mug shots to know who to be aware of
Thank you Chief for always looking out for us. Keep up the good work we need you
Are these the same individuals that broke into apartments in Woodlake Village?
Who has 250k of jewelry not in a safe??
These must be the guys that tried really hard to open our door on Monday night at 430! Very unimpressed with how the cops handled or incident. They didn’t even write a report of some sort. I will go down to the station to file a report!
