BARUCH DAYAN HA’EMES: Petirah of Harav Chaim Yisroel Abadi Z”L, Founder of Minyan Shelanu [UPDATED – LIVESTREAM]

We regret to inform you of the Petirah of Harav Chaim Yisroel Abadi Z”L, the founder of Minyan Shelanu, who was Niftar on Shabbos.

The Rabbi suffered from various Machlas over the last couple of years, but still fought to do whatever he could for the members of Minyan Shelanu, with all his strength.

The Minyan, as it’s fondly knows, is a place hundreds of boys and girls from all walks of life call home, and were mentored by the Rabbi with love.

The Rabbi returned his Neshama on Friday night.

The Rabbi’s Petirah comes just several months after his father, Rabbi Yitzchak ZT”L, a renowned Posek. Rav Chaim was in his sixties.

Levaya details will be published when confirmed.

UPDATE: The Levaya is tentatively scheduled to take place at 10:00 AM Sunday at the Minyan, 145 Ocean Avenue, Lakewood. Kevurah in Eretz Yisroel.

Bde. What a loss! Reb chaim, I am speechless, what a mountain to not have with us! My whole family and I are heartbroken. May your family have a nechama. And may moshiachs arrival make our separation just a moment.

I am very saddened to hear this terrible news. A long time friend and a huge part of Lakewood. I have nothing but fond memories. Rest in Peace Rabbi.

I had reached out to R Chaim ztl one night when I heard my son was going to the Minyan for some event, I dont recall exactly what it was. My son had not been in yeshiva for several years. R Chaim told me dont worry I will have my guys look out for him.

My son must have had his radar on and I think when he was approached by those Minyan reps, my son dashed out. I guess he wasn’t ready.

About 1.5 years ago we find out from others what our son has been doing and how he has chavrusas in the Minyan and is even being mashpia others . As R Kesserman told me, your son is 1 in a million to come from where he was to where he is.

R CHAIM ZTL YOU DID WHAT YOU SAID. YOU DID GET YOUR GUYS INVOLVED IN MY SONS CASE. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW OR WHEN.
CHILDREN DONT ALWASY SHARE WITH PARENTS.

AND I NEVER HAD A CHANCE TO TELL YOU THANK YOU. YOU SAVED HIS NESHAMA. YOU KEPT YOUR WORD.

MAY YOU BE A MEILITZ YOSHER FOR KLAL YISROEL. GO TO THE KISEY HAKOVOD AND BEG HKBH TO BRING MASHIACH BMEHERA AND TO BRING BACK ALL OF KLAL YISROEL CHILDREN TO THE FOLD BSIMCHA BTORAH BAVODA. THIS GALUS AND ITS CHALLENGES ARE ENORMOUS ON OUR CHILDREN.

WHAT WILL OUR LAKEWOOD CHILDREN DO WITHOUT
R CHAIM ZTL

WE DONT HAVE RABBI GISSENGER ZTL

WE DONT HAVE RABBI TRENK ZTL

WE DONT HAVE RABBI WALLERSTEIN ZTL.

These selfless tzadikim are irreplaceable, but there are new people doing incredible work, we must support them with money so they can devote their kochos to doing this avodas hakodesh.

Reb Chaim no matter how weak he was physically no matter how hard it was for him to walk or talk over the past few months, he would sit and talk to whoever needed the advice. Treated everyone as they are the only one that mattered to him.
from walking into the township offices just to help someone, to spending countless hours sitting with teens and investing his life in making sure the kids have a better life, this is a huge loss. I can imagine him sitting at a table with Rabbi Gissinger and Rabbi Walerstien and will for sure work together with them on getting the gala asap.
