Bachur In Serious Condition After Being Struck By Vehicle

VIDEO: A Bachur is in serious condition this evening after being struck by a vehicle. The incident occurred about 9:20 PM at the intersection of Madison Avenue and 7th Street. The Bachur, approximately 15 years old, was reportedly crossing Madison Avenue when he was hit and thrown about 30 feet from the intersection.

A traffic light at every intersection is not the answer. Crossing safely where the lights are already in place would stop these tragic events

Scary…. Slow down and parents teach your kids to wear reflectors and not to run across the road!!!!!!! I saw the aftermath the minivan that hit him sustained a lot of damage front light, hood and windshield smacked in on the drivers side. It seemed like he was wearing a black long coat (coat was left on the floor). Reflectors!!!!! May he have a speedy recovery.

It’s so sad to read articles like this. Drivers need to really be more cautious while driving. Stop at stop signs, get rid of the phones and pay attention.

REFLECTORS!! reflectors!!!
we cant change the fact that rt 9 is a very busy highway going thru our town. we should try having more lights/ better lighting or at least the ones we have now should be working (perhaps jcpl should be sued after every accident where the lights werent working) but we can and should do what ever we can to minimize what seems to be a re occuring unfortunate regular accidents.
i wouldnt blame the drivers, if the pedestrians arent taking care of themselves by being careful a) not talk on your cell phones when crossing streets b) not wearing reflectors
c) when pointed out to them after being nearly hit scoffing at the driver who takes the time out to point out they were nearly hit as they werent wearing a reflector

ohh here we go again. its the fault of streetlights… maybe we should just put huge lights up and make it look like day time all the time 24 hours

there are many cars in town that are missing headlights, tail lights and break lights. every night on my five minute drive to my yeshiva i see on average 3-5 cars missing a headlight. a car’s light should be checked at least once every month

A bridge

Being that there’s always a lot of pedestrian traffic due to the bmg yeshiva …dorms…dining room etc…there should be a crosswalk bridge across Madison ave so that people could cross safely

#22 Your idea of a crosswalk bridge is great!
Wondering if that would have an effect on Eiruvin by alleviating the Reshus Harabim DeOraisa status of Rt 9…Any thoughts?

Why are you not posting my comments? What’s wrong about saying that I do not attend bmg and don’t want to pay for a pedestrian bridge because people don’t follow the laws?
