Authorities are investigating after a woman received a condolence letter stating that her son had died on the operating table. The problem? It was a hoax.
The incident was posted on a senior community forum by the victim’s son – the one who actually underwent surgery – who called the letter ‘Shocking and revolting’.
The condolence letter was allegedly sent from the Quality Of Life team of Leisure Village, and delivered via mail to the patient’s mom, a resident of the same senior community in Lakewood.
“Sorry Ritchie died on table,” the ‘condolence’ letter stated. The mother of Rich imaginably was thrown into shock.
Rich, however, assured his mom, and his friends, that he’s alive.
“I would like to thank everyone who sent get well cards and have checked in on me since my surgery, “Rich wrote on the public forum. “I would like to share with everyone 1 card in particular that we received it is shocking and revolting. It supposedly came from the Leisure Village QOL Team offering Susan condolences for me dying on the table.”
Photos of the letter and envelope are attached.
Rich further states that this isn’t the first such incident, and that authorities are now involved in the matter.
“If the senders are not prosecuted for any reason, I will litigate this matter thru the courts just to expose these people to the world.”
TLS has also received information regarding an arrest that took place in the area just one day after this letter was posted, though it’s still unclear if it’s related to this case.

Looks like a child’s handwriting.
What a sick thing to do to someone’s mother.
