AUDIO: The Music of a Covid Shavuos

Submitted: It was in the weeks leading up to last Shavuos and the community was going through one of the hardest stretches of Covid. Numerous members of the community, from the greatest to the simplest, had succumbed to the raging pandemic, and yeshivosBais Yaakovs, and shuls were shuttered to avoid the spread of the dreaded virus.

The mood of the Lakewood community was naturally somber, and many faced the upcoming Yom Tov with mixed emotions. How would we celebrate the Chag Matan Toraseinu from amid a dearth of simchas haTorah?

It was while contemplating these thoughts that Lakewood resident Rabbi Avrohom Cukier, a noted baal menagen, determined to harness the power of song as a means to connect with the soulful sentiments that Shavuos has long brought with it. With a flash of inspiration, Reb Avrohom composed a moving niggun, capturing the highlights of the Yom Tov of kabbalas haTorah against the backdrop of the challenging year. The song, a stirring masterpiece, carried Reb Avrohom through those rough days, and the timeless words infused an uplifting joy into Shavuos of 5780 for his family and friends.

Now, as Shavuos 5781 approaches, Reb Avrohom undertook to share that inspirational song with the rest of the frum community. With the help of a recording studio and a professional video team, the emotions of “Torah Hakedosha” were imparted into a moving clip, so that Yidden everywhere can be uplifted by the poignant melody.

Here is the song Torah Hakedosha, graced by the hartzig vocals of Rabbi Avrohom Cukier.
