I appreciate whoever is speaking. I just wish before we give the county politicians a blanket endorsement we should actually get promises.

Also I wish there would currently be a huge and strong push from the local politicians and other people who have a long lasting relationship with the county working on this.

The county and state can only do so much. The best way to help fight the congestion is Lakewood’s zoning board that could stop the out of control construction on already over crowded County and state owned roads.

1)The traffic problem in Lakewood starts and ends with route 9. The county roads are picking up all the traffic from the people avoiding the 9. The bottom line is that the the ONLY way and I repeat ONLY way to improve the traffic situation in Lakewood is by widening route 9. Route 9 is the main highway that runs through Lakewood, trying to divert the traffic to alternate streets/roads will not help. Most people are not looking to take alternate routes on a daily basis and they will just stick with the 9,henceforth the problem will not go away. 2)if the developers keep on building more and more developments there is absolutely no hope anymore, even widening the 9 won’t help.

If we don’t help ourselves how can we expect other people to help us

The county is not in the business of bailing out township mishaps. There is nothing they can do to to undo the townships mistakes. I think it is wrong and a chillul hashem to go in front of them to blame them.

To #1! No we don’t only want promises. We don’t trust promises. We want the correct action taken and not only right before elections. THEN, AFTER we see that they took correct actions, we might consider voting them back in. Otherwise we vote them out no matter who recommends them. And I’m not even sure if this is the right way because they already did the harm, not by mistake, #6, but because they benefit from relationships with the builders. So maybe we should vote them out because of their past actions and not give them any more chances to promise or to pretend to correct the damage they’ve already caused.

widening the 9 would help, bottom line is- the state is never going to pay for it –
building smarter would help, bottom line is- developers are 100 steps ahead of us

We need to come up with easier bite size solutions
like- make the 9 great again and make the green lights last longer so more cars can pass
traffic comes from cars stopping and starting again
if the 9 would speed up it would ease traffic everywhere else
and why not try it its FREE!!

Ocean county isn’t going to bankrupt itself to widen all are roads because lake township messed up and over built.

What did the freeholder say about someone telling the state not to widen route 9? Someone told the state not to widen route 9? Did anyone listen to the audio??

Stop building.
The township is only making the matter worse.

No one wants to hear it.

Alot of the building is within the permitted uses and you can’t deny such applications. A big problem.

Agree to all the comments. I just want to point out that longer lights are not an option. Currently, the light remains green until a vehicle approaches the intersection waiting to cross Routr 9. A sensor is then activated causing the light to change.

The County can force Lakewood to Extend West Kennedy Blvd in back of Wawa Thru the Villas and Brookhill as is designated on Township papers

Stop the builders don’t blame it on the 9

Stop the developements. If they would be alleviating the housing shortage than it would be debatable. But all they’re doing is bringing in people from Brooklyn, thus no benefit- only overcrowding.

This is like some alternate reality. The Township changes zoning to allow increased density, vacates paper streets to allow cul de sac developments, and you blame the County?
