Attention Travelers: Newark Airport AirTrain Suspended On Weekdays Through November 20

Attention travelers: if you are taking the train to Newark Liberty International Airport over the next three weeks, plan for extra time.

Through Friday, November 20, AirTrain service to and from the Newark Airport train station is suspended on weekdays from 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM for AirTrain replacement work. During those hours, shuttle buses will run from the train station to all terminals, the rental car area and P4 Daily Parking. AirTrain service between the terminals is not affected.

Rail travelers should expect other changes as well. Through Saturday, November 14, NJ Transit trains are running on a modified schedule due to Portal North Bridge construction, and through Friday, November 13, NJ Transit is testing and inspecting new fare gates at the airport station. The Port Authority advises buying NJ Transit and Amtrak tickets ahead of time when possible.

Drivers should watch for detours: through November 20, access to P4 Daily Parking from southbound Brewster Road is detoured, as is the entrance to I-78 from Brewster Road near P4.

Flying out of LaGuardia instead? Starting Monday, November 2, black cars and pre-booked car services picking up passengers at Terminal B must use the southeast section of Level 1 of the Terminal B Garage; the pickup area is moving from Level 2.

The current AirTrain has been running since 1996. The Port Authority is replacing it with a new $3.5 billion, 2.5-mile system, with passenger service expected to begin in 2030.Click here to join the official TLS community
