As Temperatures Soar – Streets Remain Deserted

clifton ave 7-21-11 4pm tlsPHOTO: Looking for a parking space on Clifton Avenue? Today is the day to find one, or more than one. The attached photo, taken at 4:00 PM this afternoon, captures an unusual sight of downtown’s busiest road. A deserted street. With temperatures reaching in the three digits, pedestrians and even motorists are keeping cool indoors, or headed for the Catskills.

“People are just not out today”, a store-owner on Clifton Avenue says.

But don’t sweat it, tomorrow is expected to get even hotter, with heat indexes expected to reach 111, according to the Nation Weather Service. TLS-MK.
