Apprehended ‘Pepper Spray’ Suspects Charged in Connection with Even More Crimes

IMG_20150802_121017As a result of the continued investigation into the suspects arrested Friday in connection with multiple attempted robberies, “Officer Michael Mooney Jr. was able to connect Jasheir Powell, 22 of Lakewood, with a May 9 Attempted Robbery and one additional on May 25,” says Dsgt. Greg Staffordsmith.‎

On May 9, a Lakewood couple was approached while walking along Ridge Avenue by an unidentified black male who demanded their money and attempted to spray them with an unknown substance.

However, the victims did not have anything of value in their possession so the suspect fled after being kicked by the male victim.

On May 25, a gas station attendant reported that he was approached while standing in his booth by an unknown male and female who asked to purchase a cigar.

As he began showing them the different types of cigars for sale, the female sprayed him in the eyes with an unknown substance.

The victim was able to keep both suspects from gaining entry, but only after kicking the female who had wedged her leg in the door. The two then fled the area.

As a result, Quairah Booker and Jashier Powell received another count of Attempted Robbery.

In addition, a third person, Eboni Hester of Manchester, was also charged in connection to the May 25th event with Attempted Robbery, Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
